Cheers,
Decided to throw together a few questions I've been getting about my pomade... Here are a few of those answered.
What does it smell like?
The scent is gunpowder. If you like a masculine woodsy smell of pine and fresh forest then you will love this . When it comes to my hair products I have never been fond sweet smelling scents or ones that are too strong and over power my cologne of choice which is what led Apothecary 87 and I to gunpowder.
Is it water or oil based?
It is oil based but will not leave your hair greasy. The Clay makes it so it maintains a nice medium and workable hold.
Where can I get the stuff?
Apothecary 87 is based in the UK and can be found at many barbershops there but it is quickly being picked up in U.S. by retailers all over so check locally. You can always order from Apothecary 87's website and they ship quickly worldwide.
What length should my hair be for the best results?
Works best with short to medium length hair.
How strong is the hold?
Medium but won't leave your hair shiny as it is matte finish so it doesn't harden like gel or hairspray.
Hope this helps. Cheers.

Surely at some point you have wondered why there are different types of combs made with different materials. I mean it's just a damn comb right? Well yes and no. They all serve the same purpose but there is one that stands above them all... Wooden. I mean you may even score some extra points with the significant other for knowing why, so here are some facts :
1. Wooden combs distribute natural oils (Sebum) much more evenly from the scalp throughout the hair shaft so there is less buildup. Prevents blockage for any new hair trying to come in. This also is the case for use on beards.
2. Hair growth. Wooden combs unlike plastic/metal combs cause less abrasion on the scalp while creating better overall circulation when combing, helping keep the hair full and way less damaged.
3. STATIC IS BAD! Static plays a huge role in the overall styling as well as health of the hair and with a wooden comb it is eliminated. So when your trying to slick your hair you won't use as much product getting to all lay right and those baby hairs won't be reaching for heaven. Dapper is always better.
4. Wood does not conduct heat. This is huge for someone who blow dries their hair or uses any type of hot tool because the comb will not heat up like plastic or metal. Also helps keep the frizz down.
Hair on your head or face should be viewed as a blessing and should be treated as one so next time your at your barbershop you will know why many chose to use a good quality wooden comb. Also if you find the right one, for example the Apothecary Man Club Barber Comb you will not be disappointed with your investment and will live on with you for generations. As always... Cheers.
