Sometimes the open road is the only place to clear your head and what better reason to do just that and head to Ventura CA for the annual Chopperfest. Still finishing up some things at home I wasn't able to make it the night before for the pre-party from what is understood now, that's place to be and based on the talk around the festival they "got into somethin" haha.
The ride out is basically the 101 the entire way but if your coming from LA and have the time in my personal opinion, it's better to dip down and obviously take the PCH (Pacific Coast Highway) up but considering the rainfall the few days prior it was closed through most of Malibu Canyon this time. I linked up with the homies from Rooster Machine (RoosterMachine.com) out of Long Beach at the "Place" to stay. If you plan on attending this event you want to stay at the Vagabond Inn... A great thing to know because the town completely fills up and there are only a few hotels close to where the event is held and also one more plus is there is a diner on the property of this hotel that is excellent. Good old fashioned classics.
We made our way over to the event around 10am and because of parking it is highly recommended not to get to Chopperfest any later or you will be at the back. The event overall was great! The custom bikes were definitely something to see as well as some of David Mann's legendary pieces in the art gallery. As always ride hard and live free...
