Read MoreNATURE WINS AGAIN: Wooden Combs & Why we love them...
Surely at some point you have wondered why there are different types of combs made with different materials. I mean it's just a damn comb right? Well yes and no. They all serve the same purpose but there is one that stands above them all... Wooden. I mean you may even score some extra points with the significant other for knowing why, so here are some facts :
1. Wooden combs distribute natural oils (Sebum) much more evenly from the scalp throughout the hair shaft so there is less buildup. Prevents blockage for any new hair trying to come in. This also is the case for use on beards.
2. Hair growth. Wooden combs unlike plastic/metal combs cause less abrasion on the scalp while creating better overall circulation when combing, helping keep the hair full and way less damaged.
3. STATIC IS BAD! Static plays a huge role in the overall styling as well as health of the hair and with a wooden comb it is eliminated. So when your trying to slick your hair you won't use as much product getting to all lay right and those baby hairs won't be reaching for heaven. Dapper is always better.
4. Wood does not conduct heat. This is huge for someone who blow dries their hair or uses any type of hot tool because the comb will not heat up like plastic or metal. Also helps keep the frizz down.
Hair on your head or face should be viewed as a blessing and should be treated as one so next time your at your barbershop you will know why many chose to use a good quality wooden comb. Also if you find the right one, for example the Apothecary Man Club Barber Comb you will not be disappointed with your investment and will live on with you for generations. As always... Cheers.
COLOGNE : Tips & Etiquette 101
How to wear cologne may not be something you have ever thought to ask yourself but there are definitely to do's and not to do's when it comes to enhancing your social life. With it being one of the 5 senses we as humans definitely notice the aromas that surround us everywhere we go so here are a few tips for the next time your headed out for the night.
1.) Always apply to your pulse spots. There are points on the body that generate more heat than others which is why you commonly see people apply to the insides of the wrists as well as behind the ears. The heat in these spots will allow the fragrance to longer as well as relay the strongest scent to those around you.
2.) Only apply to a few pulse points. The old saying of "less is more" could not be found more true than in this circumstance. We all know the person or friend that wants everyone to know they are wearing the latest pricey cologne but ends up conveying only one word... desperate. No need to overdo it. So probably best to stick to 2 to 3 at most sprays depending on the potency of your choice scent.
3.)DO NOT rub wrists together or rub the cologne in. This is a game changer literally. Rubbing your wrist together after spraying changes the overall scent of the cologne so you want to avoid this at all costs. Just let it air dry.
4.) Check to see if your cologne has a matching body wash. Many of the manufacturers now days have created gels and all over body washes that partner and hold the same scent as your cologne. In doing this you will not mix scents and use less of your cologne when applying also resulting in spending less to obtain the smell desired.
5.) Apply to clean skin especially right after a shower. Last but not least... Always want to apply to clean skin and remove any body odor. The reason being is your pores are most open after cleansing and will act as a sponge.
Hope this was helpful. Cheers!
